Neeb Karori Baba

Description

This painting was created upon the special request of a devoted follower of the world-renowned Neeb Karori Baba, who is widely regarded as a reincarnation of Lord Hanuman. Neeb Karori Baba also known as Neem Karoli Baba or Maharaj-ji was a Hindu spiritual teacher and mistic whom is very well known in India and also the West. This portrait was painted using a rare photo of this great icon.

It was my aim in this portrait to pay tribute to a well loved figure who has deeply influenced so many, not only in his homeland of India, but worldwide and in doing so has helped facilitate a better understanding of the values of India to the West.

One of his most profound and widely-quoted teachings is “Sab Ek” — everything is one.

Among the most popular books about him is Miracle of Love by Ram Dass (born Richard Alpert), an American spiritual teacher who was deeply influenced by Baba’s wisdom.
