Description
Wedged between 2 sets of elevated railway lines on each side, Enterprise Park (looking towards the Banana Alley Vaults), is located in a gritty part Melbourne on the edge of the Central Business District (CBD). It’s an unusual park but a welcome green patch amongst the predominant concrete surroundings of the city and makes for a great painting subject. The overpass in the painting itself is one of many fine examples of the exquisite built structures from the early Melbourne era, as can be seen in the intricate brickwork and magnificent wrought iron steelwork making up the facia of the overpass. In the background of this painting is the ever-present city skyline with some recognizable Melbourne towers in view. I decided to include a train in the painting to add a little sense of movement to the scene.
