Description
Painting of Pinnacles Lookout, Cape Woolamai, Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia.
Oil on Linen 90cm x 60cm.
The Pinnacles Lookout of Phillip Island is a place that is visually just out of this world. Accessed by using the Beacon Point Loop Walk, as you turn off this track and walk towards the lookout, the greenery surroundings gives way to marvellous formations of smooth red vertical shafts and cliffs contrasted against the vast blue ocean of Bass Strait. The formations of the pinnacle shafts as a whole is visually spectacular because the shafts themselves extend out in line as they cascade out into the ocean. The detail of these rocks is immense, the rock formations appear scarred with criss cross striations throughout, which l enjoyed capturing in this painting. The beach itself consists of large smooth weathered rocks covering the whole beach which extends into the ocean with the rocks still visible under the blue water, the whole extent of this best seen from this vantage point.
